News: The Juice Crew Movie Starts Filming in 08

The story of legendary Hip-Hop collective The Juice Crew is coming to the big screen in a new movie titled The Vapors.

The Vapors will be directed by Furqaan Clover, who also recently shot Queen of Media, which tells the story of radio personality Wendy Williams.

Actress Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee, Barbershop 2: Back in Business) has been attached to the project to play the role of rapper Roxanne Shante, while actor Clifton Powell (Friday After Next, Norbit) has been cast as influential DJ Mr. Magic.

The Vapors is set against the backdrop of New York City’s Queensbridge Housing Projects, where The Juice crew was based.

The character driven story is inspired by the true life events of DJ Marley Marl, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane and Roxanne Shante and chronicles the group’s rise to fame during Hip-Hop’s golden age.

The legendary collective was headed up by Marley Marl and featured legendary rappers like MC Shan, Big Daddy, Kane, Craig G., Biz Markie, Kool G. Rap and DJ Polo, Roxanne Shante, Masta Ace, TJ Swan, Cool V and Tragedy.

Juice crew members Roxanne Shante and Biz Markie released seminal records on the Philadelphia-based Hip-Hop label Pop Art in 1984, before entering into rap history when Juice Crew member MC Shan released the classic single "The Bridge" in 1986.

The single sparked "The Bridge Wars" between MC Shan and the Juice crew and Bronx rapper KRS-One and his Boogie Down Productions, one of the most legendary feuds in Hip-Hop history.

The Vapors is scheduled to start filming in January of 2008.

News: John Legend forms new label

In an interview with Billboard, the Grammy-winner and head of newly formed label, Homeschool Records, said his new album could be released by next summer.

"We're really just starting," Legend told Billboard. "I'm usually pretty prolific and pretty quick with my output, so I'm guessing I'll be done with it by the end of the spring and put it out either late summer or early fall. That's what I'm headed towards."

The as-yet untitled album will be the follow-up to the double-platinum Once Again, which will spawn one more single, "Show Me."

The same people keep making the news, sorry people I had to hit you with a different picture....lol

The World Music Awards featured performances by a number of the world’s top recording acts, including Rihanna, Avril Lavigne, Mexican band Mana and others.

50 Cent’s latest album Curtis helped him win the World’s Best Selling Artist Award, which is determined by actual sales figures gathered from countries across the globe, as opposed to a voting process.

Akon took home three awards, including Best Selling R&B Male Artist, Best Selling African Artist and Best Selling Internet Artist.

"You are witness to seeing me receive any kind of award for music the first time in my life," Akon told the crowd.

Other big winners during the evening included Mika who took home four awards, including Best Selling Male Entertainer and World’s Best Selling Pop/Rock Male Artist and Avril Lavigne, who won Best Selling Pop/Rock Female Artist and Best Selling Canadian Artist.

Shaggy won World’s Best Selling R&B Male Artist and Entertainer of the Year, while Rihanna took home the World’s Best Selling Pop Female award.

Interview: Producer- Mighty Fuzz Young

When did you start your journey in hip hop?
"I started making beats in 2001 in my basement, then I opened my own studio in Brooklyn called "Da Woodz." It definitely helped my music take off, I had a lot of industry clients like Uncle Murda and the TuneHeadz so that's when my music really graduated to serious.

Who is in your mp3 player?
"Hip-Hop, I got 50 & Kanye on rotation right now. Also of course Jay-Z, Eminem and anything Timbaland and Danja Handz touch. But I vibe with Coldplay, Metallica...sh*t even Dave Matthews Band."

What are your goals for the next 3 years?
"I'm makin it a point to work hard to get a Top-10 hit record. The music is there really, its just about gettin that one song that is "just right" and also got the right promotion. That's really all I'm focused on right now."

Do you believe in God? If yes, how does God play a role in your life?
"Well yeah, I definitely believe in God. Italian family, of course we believe in God haha! Really though, I get my faith in life through God...life throws tough sh*t at you and you know what, what keeps me going is my faith that it'll all be worth it in the end."

Do you have any groupie stories? If yes, what was the craziest thing a chick did to get your attention?
"Haha, well let's just say the ladies love Fuzzerelli. But I've been crazy focused on my music for a while now...gotta leave them groupies alone!"

Who do you think is the best lyricist of all time?
"Pac, hands down. But Pac's been gone for a long time now so the top dude in terms of who's the best since is definitely Eminem. Creativity, flow, presence, he is straight up just above everyone else."

What type of equipment do you use in the studio for production?
"I got the MPC2000XL, and for my sounds I got the Triton, V-Synth, Fantom, and Motif keyboards. The most important thing though is the sound card though, we got a top Pro Tools TDM system that makes everything sound like it should."

How has the internet helped your career?
"Well, straight up it has opened up what I do to the world. I was just checkin my MySpace map of visitors and saw hits in Japan, Australia, Africa...these people never would hear of me until I had an international hit but now they check out my page and see what I'm about. To me, that's crazy!"

How has the internet hurt your career?
"I'm definitely addicted to MySpace now."

It has been a pleasure to speak to you, tell the people where they can find you and add anything else you want the people to know.
"
2008 is the year where people will know the name, Mighty Fuzz Young...don't get it twisted, I'm here to change the game. Check the site for the heat, www.myspace.com/MightyFuzzYoung. I also got some fire from my artists B.Stallion ( www.myspace.com/BlackStallionMusic) and Genovese and Gustapo, the "First Cousins" (www.myspace.com/FirstCousinsMusic ) comin out next year. I also wanna thank SPATE Magazine for checkin for me, and I'm lookin forward to workin with Madman on a joint soon!"

News: Trey Songz arrested

(Allhiphop)
First T Pain and now Trey Songz. R&B dudes getting gangsta and arrested. Wow!

R&B singer Trey Songz was arrested in Springfield, MA early Sunday (Nov 4) along with several members of his entourage following a shooting outside a local venue.

Songz was charged with behaving as a disorderly person and resisting arrest.

The singer, born Tremaine Neverson, was released after posting $500 bond.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of The Hippodrome, where Songz performed Saturday evening.

According to Lt. John Slepchuck of the Springfield Police Department, police officers where present when shots were fired behind the venue at 1700 Main Street.

“Our disorderly person charge can involve several different things including the use of certain language, failure to do what an officer asks,” Slepchuck told AllHipHop.com. “[Neverson] was interfering with an active crime scene involving a victim.”

The alleged shooter, 29-year-old Anthony Williams remains in police custody facing multiple charges, including assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm without a license and assault with intent to murder.

He is scheduled to be arraigned this morning. Williams’ unidentified victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

It is unclear whether Songz is connected to either man.

The singer was connected to another similar incident in less than a month ago, though he was not directly involved.

Songz’ October 11 performance at Opera Nightclub in Atlanta was interrupted when an altercation between two men in the audience erupted in gunfire.

News: New clues in Jam Jay murder

New clues in the Jam Jay murder have come up. It is said that one of the witnesses claim that the killer had a tattoo on his neck. There are many different stories to what actually happened on that day, but we do know that the man that shot Jay embraced him, and then fired two shots the first hitting a friend seated next to him and the other hitting Jay in the back of the head. Many believe that the police know who did it but it's a matter of getting the witnesses to co-operate. Some say the gun used to kill Jay came from his own house.

News: T Pain's arrest

(Allhiphop)
Jive Records has issued a statement explaining the arrest of superstar producer/R&B singer T-Pain.

T-Pain, born Faheem Najm, was stopped driving a Lamborghini Gallardo in June, but his license had been revoked for being a habitual traffic violator, officials reported.

Police issued an arrest warrant on June 15 charging the rapper with a non-moving traffic violation and driving with a suspended license.

"He is a habitual offender," Tallahassee Police Department spokesperson Kathy McGhin said. "This is his third charge."

T-Pain surrendered voluntarily yesterday morning (November 2).

"T-Pain was given a few traffic tickets several years ago for minor infractions [a speeding ticket, running a stop sign, failure to pay]" a representative for Jive told AllHipHop.com. "These were mistakes that Pain made as a young man that just received his driver's license. He did not have the money nor the knowledge at the time to take care of them."

Jive shot down reports that T-Pain was arrested and clarified that he voluntarily turned himself in and scheduled his surrender with a local attorney and law enforcement officials.

"There was no bail and he was released on his own recognizance within a few hours…He will not miss any scheduled engagements."

T-Pain is scheduled to play at Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) homecoming tonight (November 3) at the Civic Center from 8-11 PM.

Other artists on the bill include Lil Wayne, Musiq Soulchild, Webbie, and Plies .
