TVT Records fires employees and files for protection
TVT records home of lil John has fired most of its employees and if filing for bankruptcy protection. Many record labels are suffering from poor record sales. What ever happened to storing your money away for a rainy day. Labels and people a like think th money will be coming in forever. This is really strange to me because TVT was the top indie label for the past 7 years. No other indie label was rocking like them. It makes me wonder where the other indie labels are at right now. No other information is available about TVT at this point but its not looking good right now.

News: Scott Storch having financial problems
Scott Scorch is apparently better at making beats than child support payments. According to TMZ, the successful rap producer is behind on his monthly support payment for his child, Jalen, who will be 2 in April. Dalene Daniel has filed a legal motion claiming that Storch is behind on this month's and last month's $7,500 payment, is "habitually late" in paying child support, and has bounced checks The $7,500 payment may seem like a hefty amount, but it's measly compared to Storch's estimated income, which Forbes placed at $17 million for 2006, or $1.4 million a month. Despite his substantial income, Storch is reportedly behind on more than just child support. According to a recent story in The New York Post, Storch owes $435,602 in back taxes on his house in Miami. He also never paid for a $7,500 painting he had on display in his home, prompting the Miami gallery owner to pay Storch a visit and reclaim the art. At press time, Strorch has not commented on his financial situation.

News: Yung Joc arrested
Grammy nominated rapper Yung Joc was arrested in Cleveland, Ohio this morning, after he allegedly attempted to pass through an airport security check point with a fully loaded handgun.
According to police, Yung Joc attempted to pass through a security checkpoint at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, when police found the full loaded firearm.
The Atlanta-bred rapper, born Jasiel Robinson, is currently facing local firearms charges, although he may face charges under the Air Piracy Act.
Yung Joc is currently in the Cuyahoga County Jail. Information on his bail was unavailable as of press time.
The arrest comes on the heels of a banner year for Yung Joc, according to recently released data released by The Nielsen Company.
The rapper is featured on T-Pain’s hit single "Buy You A Drank," which was the top selling master tone of 2007, as well as the most played single of the year, tallying almost 400,000 spins.

Interview: Producer- Mighty Fuzz Young

When did you start your journey in hip hop?
"I started making beats in 2001 in my basement, then I opened my own studio in Brooklyn called "Da Woodz." It definitely helped my music take off, I had a lot of industry clients like Uncle Murda and the TuneHeadz so that's when my music really graduated to serious.
Who is in your mp3 player?
"Hip-Hop, I got 50 & Kanye on rotation right now. Also of course Jay-Z, Eminem and anything Timbaland and Danja Handz touch. But I vibe with Coldplay, Metallica...sh*t even Dave Matthews Band."
What are your goals for the next 3 years?
"I'm makin it a point to work hard to get a Top-10 hit record. The music is there really, its just about gettin that one song that is "just right" and also got the right promotion. That's really all I'm focused on right now."
Do you believe in God? If yes, how does God play a role in your life?
"Well yeah, I definitely believe in God. Italian family, of course we believe in God haha! Really though, I get my faith in life through God...life throws tough sh*t at you and you know what, what keeps me going is my faith that it'll all be worth it in the end."
Do you have any groupie stories? If yes, what was the craziest thing a chick did to get your attention?
"Haha, well let's just say the ladies love Fuzzerelli. But I've been crazy focused on my music for a while now...gotta leave them groupies alone!"
Who do you think is the best lyricist of all time?
"Pac, hands down. But Pac's been gone for a long time now so the top dude in terms of who's the best since is definitely Eminem. Creativity, flow, presence, he is straight up just above everyone else."
What type of equipment do you use in the studio for production?
"I got the MPC2000XL, and for my sounds I got the Triton, V-Synth, Fantom, and Motif keyboards. The most important thing though is the sound card though, we got a top Pro Tools TDM system that makes everything sound like it should."
How has the internet helped your career?
"Well, straight up it has opened up what I do to the world. I was just checkin my MySpace map of visitors and saw hits in Japan, Australia, Africa...these people never would hear of me until I had an international hit but now they check out my page and see what I'm about. To me, that's crazy!"
How has the internet hurt your career?
"I'm definitely addicted to MySpace now."
It has been a pleasure to speak to you, tell the people where they can find you and add anything else you want the people to know.
"2008 is the year where people will know the name, Mighty Fuzz Young...don't get it twisted, I'm here to change the game. Check the site for the heat, www.myspace.com/MightyFuzzYoung. I also got some fire from my artists B.Stallion ( www.myspace.com/BlackStallionMusic) and Genovese and Gustapo, the "First Cousins" (www.myspace.com/FirstCousinsMusic ) comin out next year. I also wanna thank SPATE Magazine for checkin for me, and I'm lookin forward to workin with Madman on a joint soon!"

Remember when: Heavy D

Remember when Heavy D was hot. Man I think I was in high school. I don't remember a lot from that time but it was fun. Hip-hop was new and everyone was waiting for the next big record to drop. The internet was no where to be found and hardly anyone even had a computer. A lot of hot artists from Mount Vernon were popping at this time. The whole Uptown Records movement was in effect.
Dropping their first album in 1987 we will never forget Heavy D And The Boys contribution to music.
